Dr. Vanessa Simiola is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist based in Honolulu, Hawaii, and a co-founder of Thrum. She maintains an active private practice spanning clinical therapy, forensic evaluations, and custody work across multiple states.
As a principal investigator, her research has focused on what drives — and what gets in the way of — evidence-based care in real-world clinical settings, including how provider experience, patient preferences, and system-level factors shape treatment delivery. Together, these experiences gave her a firsthand understanding of how documentation demands and measurement gaps shape clinical practice — and ultimately led her to co-found Thrum.

Dr. Seda Terzyan
Co-founder

Dr. Seda Terzyan is founder and director of Perspectives Psychological Services, a team practice emphasizing precise initial assessments to clarify each client’s needs and specific diagnoses. Her treatment style is built upon the assumption that the client is the expert on themselves — fostering a collaborative, trusting, and supportive environment where clinician and client work together to tailor an intervention to their specific needs and strengths.
Dr. Terzyan specializes in child and adult neuropsychological testing and the treatment of anxiety and trauma-related disorders, offering testing for school and work accommodations, ADHD, learning disorders, head injuries, and psychological functioning.

Rob Davarnia
Co-founder

Rob Davarnia is a co-founder of Thrum and leads software development for the platform. Driven by a commitment to building technology that genuinely serves clinicians, Rob brings engineering expertise to a mission rooted in clinical insight — designing systems that prioritize privacy, narrative continuity, and the autonomy of mental health providers. At Thrum, he translates the clinical vision of his co-founders into an intuitive, privacy-first architecture that puts the clinician firmly in the driver’s seat.

Why building Thrum required clinicians

Efficiency came at
a clinical cost
Thrum was founded on a frustration shared by therapists at every stage of their career: documentation had become the part of clinical work that worked against clinical work.
Intake forms captured demographics but missed the person entirely. Treatment plans satisfied billing requirements while failing to reflect what was actually in the room.

So we built it from
the inside out
Thrum is different because it was designed from inside the therapeutic relationship outward — not from a billing system inward.
Every prompt, every interface decision, every privacy constraint was shaped by clinicians who believed good documentation was itself an act of care.
